$2 Million Gift for Southeast Resident Programming

Mercy Housing Southeast Receives $2 Million Gift from the Yield Giving Open Call

Atlanta, GA– Today, MacKenzie Scott through Yield Giving announced Mercy Housing Southeast as one of the Yield Giving Open Call’s awardees for working with people and in places experiencing the greatest need in the United States.

Mercy Housing Southeast received $2 million to support ongoing resident services at affordable housing communities, including nearly 300 new or freshly renovated apartments in Atlanta and Savannah over the next two years.  In March 2023, Yield Giving launched an Open Call for community-led, community-focused organizations whose explicit purpose is to enable individuals and families to achieve substantive improvement in their well-being through foundational resources.

Mercy Housing Southeast President James Alexander stated, “We are creating desperately needed affordable housing, but that is only a first step. This generous gift will provide seed funding for resident services, such as after-school programming, food support, and financial wellness programming so that residents can thrive. With the support of partners, we will continue to provide these vital services.”

Mercy Housing Southeast emerged as one of the top-rated organizations out of 6353 applications received by Yield Giving.  “We are excited that our partnership with Yield Giving has resonated with so many organizations,” said Cecilia Conrad, CEO of Lever for Change. “In a world teeming with potential and talent, the Open Call has given us an opportunity to identify, uplift, and empower transformative organizations that often remain unseen.” More information on the Yield Giving Open Call and other initiatives can be found at www.leverforchange.org.
