Apr 17Building toward recovery: Cypress Lane Apartments mark a new chapter for Paradise
In Paradise, California, a powerful milestone in the town’s long‑term recovery was celebrated with both reflection and hope.
Mercy Housing California and Community Housing Improvement Program (CHIP) gathered with community leaders, partners, and residents for a joint grand opening of Cypress Lane Family Apartments and a groundbreaking for Cypress Lane Senior Apartments — two developments that represent meaningful progress for Paradise following the devastating 2018 Camp Fire.
Together, the Cypress Lane communities will deliver 140 affordable homes, helping address one of Paradise’s most pressing needs as rebuilding continues. While thousands of homes have been reconstructed since the fire, affordable housing remains in short supply. Cypress Lane responds directly to that gap, creating opportunities for residents to return, rebuild, and remain rooted in the community they call home.
Now open, Cypress Lane Family Apartments offers 70 affordable one‑, two‑, and three‑bedroom homes designed to support stability and long‑term security for families. Nearby, Cypress Lane Senior Apartments is now under construction and expected to open in 2027. The 70‑home senior community will serve adults age 62 and older, supporting aging in place with thoughtful design, accessibility features, and proximity to neighbors and services.
Across both communities, shared amenities are designed to promote connection, health, and quality of life. Residents will have access to community rooms, gardens, exercise spaces, playgrounds, walking paths, onsite laundry, and resident services that help support long‑term housing stability.
As Paradise continues rebuilding its neighborhoods, infrastructure, and services, Cypress Lane Apartments stand as a reminder that recovery is not only about restoring what was lost, but about creating a stronger, more resilient future where families and seniors alike have a safe, affordable place to call home.
