Low-income families, seniors and people with special needs from San Francisco to Atlanta will have more safe, quality affordable housing and programs to help them improve their lives, thanks to a $500,000 grant from Bank of America and Bank of America Charitable Foundation.

 

The award is the second part of a two-year, $1 million grant that Bank of America first announced at Mercy Housing’s 25^th Anniversary Gala in May 2008 in Chicago. The $500,000 will be split among Mercy Housing’s regional offices in Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, North and South Carolina, and Washington State. The Mercy Measurement Initiative, an effort to measure the effectiveness of the organization’s resident services across the nation, and Mercy Housing’s Asset Management division will also receive funding from the grant.

 

In 2008, Mercy Housing honored Bank of America with its Guardian Angel Award for its commitment to working with nonprofit organizations to finance affordable homes. Bank of America has invested in or financed more than $30.7 million in Mercy Housing developments, most recently in Illinois, South Carolina and Georgia.
