Sunnydale residents were in for a treat when a new mural was unveiled in the courtyard of the Sunnydale Resource Center (SRC) of two interlocking hands surrounded by bold, vibrant patterns. Painted by Cameron Moberg, a former Mercy Housing resident and longtime San Franciscan, the piece is both personal and deeply connected to this neighborhood.
Cameron once lived in Columbia Square, in San Francisco, with his young family. “Mercy gave us a way to stay in the city we love,” he shared. Years later, he’s returned, not just as an artist, but as someone whose story began in the same kind of home this mural now overlooks.
Welcome to Sunnydale
The design pays tribute to the original “Welcome to Sunnydale” mural from the old community center, a familiar image that holds great significance for many. This new piece carries that memory forward while reflecting the shared stories and traditions of Sunnydale residents today.
It serves as a tribute to both the past and the present, reminding us that the essence of Sunnydale remains unchanged. We encourage you to visit the SRC to view the mural in person.
