Jan 212021 Highlights for Mercy Housing California
As we welcome in 2022 together and say goodbye to a year both heartbreaking and hopeful, I want to take a minute to thank you for all your support in 2021, and to show you how much you helped us to achieve.
Thanks to you, the year ahead holds so much promise. To help move California forward, we’re committing to a historic expansion of our portfolio over the next two years. In addition, we will be building our programs and advocacy around the aspirations and voices of MHC residents. Soon, you’ll hear more about an exciting strategy we’re advancing in 2022 to speed up the production of affordable housing throughout California.
In the midst of a pandemic and an unprecedented housing crisis, Mercy Housing California supporters have stepped up in every way imaginable to keep residents healthy, stable, and housed. From distributing more than $4 million in rent relief to hosting onsite vaccination clinics and food banks, our partners, staff, and residents have worked tirelessly to extend crucial lifelines to each other.
In December of 2021, Mercy Housing celebrated our 40th birthday. I am moved to know that with your support, there’s no limit to what we can achieve together in this next decade. On behalf of the staff and board of MHC, please accept my heartfelt thanks for your partnership.
Live in Hope,
Doug Shoemaker
President, Mercy Housing California
P.S. I hope you’ll join me in recognizing and celebrating our 2021 donors and sponsors. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of Mercy Housing residents.
