Rendering of lotus mural on building

Public Art will Contribute to a Sense of Place in Mount Baker

In September, Mercy Housing Northwest is excited to begin its installation of a beautiful mural on the north façade of the Gardner House and Allen Family Center, located at 2870 S. Hanford St. in Seattle. Visually inspired by lotus ponds, the mural is another contribution to the emerging arts district in Mount Baker, led by the creatives at the Mount Baker Artists’ Lofts, local galleries, and the already completed mural work on Rainier Avenue with the Mount Baker Hub Alliance.

Mercy Housing Northwest is teaming up with Tacoma-based artist Kenji Stoll, whose work is already featured on the Seattle SODO tracks, to design the mural. Kenji plans to work with local artists and make connections with members of the community who are interested in using murals and public artwork to help build the blossoming public arts district, and to further create a sense of place in Mount Baker. Do you know of a neighborhood group who would be interested in connecting with Kenji? Please reach out to us at with your ideas!
