
REDI to Talk | The Road Toward Racial Equity

Mercy Housing Mountain Plains is hosting a conversation about what it takes to end systemic racism and how we can build more equitable communities with Maya Sol Dansie and Nadia Ali.
Maya Sol Dansie and Nadia Ali, join us as experts in diversity, equity, and inclusion training and consulting. Both Nadia and Maya Sol have deep knowledge and experience in the research, creation, and delivery of social justice curricula that is culturally-grounded and age-appropriate.
The discussion will be hosted by Jennifer Thibault, Mercy Housing Mountain Plain’s Regional Vice President of Operations. Maya and Nadia will share how they guide individuals, communities, and organizations in this work, while prioritizing the health and mental wellbeing of underrepresented individuals and Communities of Color.

Nadia Ali
Nadia has nearly 20 years of experience working in a variety of settings with people from various educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds. Her depth of experience spans program management, coalition building, leadership and workforce development, community outreach, health care reform and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) training and consulting.
She is passionate about health and racial equity and her work has primarily centered around increasing access to care in low-income and immigrant populations, creating leadership opportunities for underrepresented minorities, and increasing awareness and dialogue around health and racial equity.
Nadia’s academic background includes studies in health policy and management, public health, and Spanish. Nadia is a graduate of New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and Rutgers University.
Maya Sol Dansie
An activist, dancer, educator, and licensed clinical social worker, Maya Sol Dansie is dedicated to raising awareness and political consciousness and empowering our community. With Indigenous blood on both her maternal and paternal family sides, her ancestral lineage traces from Ciudad de México to Jalisco. It is with the connection to her roots, examining her identities, power and privilege, and by respecting her family, culture, history, and upbringing that Maya Sol is able to do her work.
Maya Sol finds motivation from the youth, women, and families she works with. We focus on utilizing their strengths and decolonized ancestral roots to provide therapeutic interventions, reproductive justice, identity awareness, intergenerational communication, and community service learning to strengthen multicultural communities.

Calm, effective, and inspirational, Jennifer has had an extraordinary career in community development, ranging from working with at-risk youth to managing a multi-million-dollar budget and supervising management staff. As Mercy Housing Mountain Plain’s Regional Vice President of Operations, she specializes in developing key partnerships across government, nonprofit, medical, and business sectors. She’s an innovative thinker and a life-long learner and visionary who is dedicated to fostering more equitable communities to break cycles of poverty.
