Tackling Food Insecurity

Food pantries continue to be one of Mercy Housing’s most utilized services, with the resident services programming team having provided food assistance, including food pantries and meal deliveries to 11,281 households who accessed food services 159,174 times in 2023 across all Mercy Housing regions. In addition, enrollment in SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) among Mercy Housing residents is higher than the general population. While this varies by geographical location, this speaks to the immediate need for food assistance for Mercy Housing residents.

With a $450,000 donation, we are thrilled to announce a new partnership with Little Company of Mary Sisters. The funding will directly support food insecurity across all our Mercy Housing’s regions, with a concentration in Lakefront, where they are based.

A portion of the funding will also help the national endowment launched in 2022. This generous donation will be distributed over the next three years. We thank Little Company of Mary Sisters for their support and look forward to growing our partnership.
