Exploring the possibilities at The Kelsey Civic Center

At Mercy Housing California, we build communities with residents in mind. Places where people of all abilities can thrive, connect, and feel at home.

One of our newest communities, The Kelsey Civic Center, was recently named a finalist for Affordable Housing Finance’s Readers’ Choice Awards in the Urban category. Designed with inclusion at its core, this accessibly built development supports a wide range of needs through innovative features and an onsite Inclusion Concierge team. Located in a city known for its legacy of sustainability and disability justice, The Kelsey Civic Center stands as a powerful symbol of both.

This recognition reflects our deep commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and people-centered design; values that shape the everyday experiences of residents like Rory.

“I feel like I can be myself here.” – Rory of his apartment home

Rory shared what he loves most about his new home:

“Living at The Kelsey Civic Center—it just gives me the option to explore new possibilities. My apartment has a view of Van Ness, and you can see the opera house from my window. It’s close to public transit, and I’m making friends in the building.

“My neighbors are friendly, and they’ve helped me settle into the community. We have many different kinds of people living here. It’s important for people with and without disabilities to be neighbors because it gives people a chance to get to know each other.

Rory’s words reflect the heart of what we strive to create: inclusive, welcoming communities where everyone belongs.
