Oct 29Fatmah Farraj named CLIHTF’s Board of Directors President
We’re thrilled to share that Mercy Housing Lakefront’s Fatmah Farraj, Vice President of Operations, was named President of the Board of Directors at the Chicago Low-Income Housing Trust Fund (CLIHTF). Since 1989, CLIHTF’s mission has been to provide low-income individuals and families in Chicago with access to stable, quality, safe, affordable housing by investing in rental subsidies and affordable housing projects throughout Chicago’s communities.
Rental Subsidy Program
A key program of CLIHTF is its Rental Subsidy Program, which provides rental subsidies to owners of qualified buildings or developments in Chicago with the goal of housing Chicago’s poorest residents. CLIHTF’s Rental Subsidy Program is the largest city and state-funded rental subsidy program in the nation. Among landlords with the highest number of units subsidized through the Program, Mercy Housing Lakefront ranks in the top five with a total of 150 apartment homes across four of its properties.
Because the Trust Fund allocates at least 50% of its resources to households earning below 15% of the area median income, our partnership enables us to reach the most economically vulnerable members of our community. We are grateful that Fatmah will be leading the organization and its lifesaving programs in this new leadership role, while continuing to work in her position as Vice President of Operations at Mercy Housing Lakefront.
