Apr 14Stepping into Oklahoma & Arkansas
Due to the growing need for more affordable housing in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas, we are thrilled to announce our expansion into these markets so we can continue to do what we do best: provide affordable, program-enriched housing in areas that need it most.
Both Tulsa and Northwest Arkansas are ripe for more affordable housing. They’re fast-growing communities with strong economies, have philanthropic support for housing, and lack affordable housing for employers like hospitals and schools.
Support from organizations in those markets has been plentiful and helps make plans for expansion possible. Thanks to a generous $750,000 grant from the Anne & Henry Zarrow Foundation in Tulsa, MHMP can establish a local office to support future multi-family affordable housing opportunities. We’ve also received a lot of support in Northwest Arkansas where a site has been identified and the plan to develop 150 affordable apartment homes has begun.
“We’re excited about the growth of Mercy Housing Mountain Plains into Tulsa and Northwest Arkansas, and we continue to meet with local partners and elected officials to identify needs in each community and how Mercy can address them. We are grateful to feel so welcomed,” said Kuhl Brown, Vice President of Real Estate Development
