Oct 22Carlton Apartments Wins Award
We are proud to share that Mercy Housing Lakefront was honored with the prestigious 2024 Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Award in the HUD Preservation category for the Carlton Apartments.
The Carlton Apartments provides permanent supportive housing to 68 residents in Chicago’s vibrant Uptown community. As a result of the year-long rehabilitation, Carlton residents now enjoy updated homes and furnishings, new and expanded community spaces, and first-time, modern amenities, including Wi-Fi and air conditioning throughout the building. Ultimately, this work has ensured that extremely low-income residents have continued access to affordable housing and supportive services to improve their quality of life.
Edgar Flagg, Vice President of Real Estate Development, was presented the award by Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) in Washington, D.C. at a special ceremony. Mercy Housing President and CEO Ismael Guerrero was also in attendance to accept an award for Millworks Family Housing for Mercy Housing Northwest in the Small Metropolitan Area category.
