Residents of Mercy Housing Lakefront’s Carlton Apartments came together with staff and supporters on a sunny June afternoon to celebrate the reopening of the historic apartment building.

Carlton Apartments was originally built in 1925 as the Carlton Terrace Hotel featuring distinctive Collegiate Gothic architecture. Mercy Housing Lakefront acquired and first renovated the Carlton Terrace Hotel in 1993 and converted the building into Permanent Supportive Housing.

In August 2022, Mercy Housing Lakefront completed a year-long rehabilitation of Carlton Apartments, preserving 68 permanent supportive homes. This rehabilitation extended the longevity of the building and improved the quality of life for individuals with extremely low incomes, including many who have experienced chronic homelessness and have disabilities.
