Dec 16Mercy Housing Northwest & PeaceHealth Break Ground at Mercy-PeaceHealth Family Housing in Vancouver
VANCOUVER, WA – Today, Mercy Housing Northwest and PeaceHealth celebrated the groundbreaking of Mercy-PeaceHealth Family Housing, an affordable housing community comprised of 69 apartment homes in Vancouver. This collaborative development between Mercy Housing Northwest and PeaceHealth will help address the critical need for affordable, family-sized housing, with most homes dedicated to two and three-bedroom apartments.
Located near schools, parks, retail, and medical care, Mercy-PeaceHealth Family Housing will feature six, 3-story apartment buildings with parking. Half of the one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments will be reserved for households earning up to 30% of area median income (roughly $23,000 per year for a family of four) and the other half will be reserved for households earning up to 50% of area median income (about $37,000 annually).
Adjacent to the PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center Campus, PeaceHealth generously donated the land and provided $2.4 million in capital funding to begin the development of this affordable housing community.
“PeaceHealth and Mercy Housing Northwest share a common mission in serving those in need and supporting sustainable health and wellness. We are proud of our collaborative partnership, to bring much needed affordable housing to Vancouver,” said Sean Gregory, Chief Executive of PeaceHealth Columbia Network.
Residents of Mercy-PeaceHealth Family Housing will also find a spacious community room with a kitchen and computer center, an outdoor community space with benches, and a playground for children. In addition, onsite resident services will be available in collaboration with PeaceHealth, offering families access to opportunities and new skills.
“Mercy Housing Northwest is thrilled to collaborate with PeaceHealth in creating Mercy-PeaceHealth Family Housing, which includes larger family-sized homes, in the North Garrison Heights neighborhood,” said Joe Thompson, President of Mercy Housing Northwest. “We are grateful to be a part of this community as we strive with our partners to ensure that Clark County remains affordable and accessible for everyone.”
Scheduled to open in summer of 2022, this is Mercy Housing Northwest’s first development in Southwest Washington.
