Largest Local Real Estate Firm Launches “Home for the Holidays” Fund

During the season of giving, Your Castle Real Estate is proud to announce their new “Home for the Holidays” fund to benefit Denverites with barriers to housing. Your Castle founder Lon Welsh and president Charles Roberts are kicking off the fund with a $15,000 donation to Mercy Housing, a local nonprofit that  provides  affordable housing and self-sufficiency programs.

“One of the core values at Your Castle is giving back to the community we serve,” said Roberts. “That’s why we are thrilled to create this fund and have the inaugural donation given to one of the city’s longstanding nonprofits that connect those with little to no safety net to sustainable housing and self-sufficiency programs.”

The donation will help benefit Mercy Housing residents like Kathryn, a senior who lived paycheck to paycheck.  After being laid off from her job she was homeless for eight years until she transitioned into one of Mercy Housing’s communities in the city of Denver.  Since then, Kathryn has found work within walking distance, actively participates in her church and is part of the Mercy Housing community.

“Being laid off as a senior with no savings is something I hope never happens to anyone,” said Kathryn. “Connecting to Mercy Housing forever changed my life.  Now I have a place to call home, a job I love down the street and lifelong friends who are residents in my building. I couldn’t be happier and incredibly grateful for this second chance to find home again.”

In addition to the donation, Welsh and Roberts will invite the more than 550 Your Castle agents and their clients to consider Mercy Housing in their yearend giving. All donations raised by Your Castle will go to Mercy Housing’s mission to build healthy, vibrant and safe neighborhoods by providing quality, service-enriched housing.  For more information on how to donate to Mercy Housing, visit:  www.mercyhousing.org/colorado
