Mercy Housing Colorado Welcomes Four New Communities

We are happy to announce that four new communities have joined the Mercy Housing Colorado family. These properties, previously owned and operated by Franciscan Ministries, Inc. (FMI), have officially been transferred to Mercy Housing Colorado as of July 1, 2016.

The communities are:

Villa Maria, Westminster, CO Francis Heights, Denver, CO Clare of Assisi, Westminster, CO Clare Gardens, Denver, CO

With the addition of these properties, we now have 16 Mercy Housing communities in the state of Colorado.

The transfer of these properties was the first of many. Eventually, all 33 FMI properties will be transferred to Mercy Housing, following the approval of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

FMI decided to transfer the ownership and management of their affordable housing communities to Mercy Housing in April of 2016, following a long deliberation process.

“As the Sisters age and our numbers decrease, we wanted to transfer our corporate ministries while they are healthy, fiscally sound, and have a strong sense of mission and values. We chose Mercy Housing to assume stewardship of our housing ministry to ensure the continued health of these communities,” said Sister Pat Norton, Chair of the Sponsor Member Board for Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare.

“Mercy Housing is a national leader in affordable housing, and we know we are leaving our communities in extremely capable hands,” added Susan Dillberg, President and CEO of Franciscan Ministries. “They have an excellent reputation as a provider of quality affordable homes, and their mission aligns well with that of Franciscan Ministries; they are committed to serving communities with compassion, and strongly believe in the power of affordable housing to enrich lives.”

Stay tuned for future updates as we welcome more FMI communities to the Mercy Housing portfolio.
