LOS ANGELES, Calif. – December 17, 2015 – Mercy Housing California, one of the largest non-profit affordable housing developers in the state, today announced a generous and significant contribution from locally-owned Jerome’s Furniture. Continuing in their tradition of supporting local families across southern California, Jerome’s Furniture has provided close to $130,000 in funding to address resident needs of three affordable housing developments in Los Angeles and Orange Counties impacting 690 residents.
Jerome’s Furniture is spreading funding across three affordable housing developments to upgrade common areas and computer labs, support new furnishings for residents, and provide onsite services. Funding was generated through participation in CBS EcoMedia’s WellnessAd program.
The upgraded computer lab and community room at Vineyard Town Homes in Anaheim, CA will give residents access to up-to-date technology that will help build their computer literacy skills and ensure that the space continues to invite safe and comfortable use by the families and children.
At Caroline Severance Manor in Los Angeles, CA formerly homeless residents now have new furnishings and kitchen items – Jerome’s Furniture has generously provided at-cost items to residents to support their transition to a new and more stable lifestyle.
Jerome’s Furniture funding will also help support programs and services at New Dana Strand Town Homes in Wilmington, CA for a full year. These services will help low-income families build a better future for their children.
“Jerome’s Furniture is extremely proud to be partnering with Mercy Housing in funding three affordable housing initiatives,” said Jim Navarra, Senior Vice President, Jerome’s Furniture. “As a family business, our involvement in the community in which we operate is a core value. It’s also part of being a good neighbor.”
To recognize Jerome’s Furniture for their contribution, today Mercy Housing is hosting a holiday-themed event at New Dana Strand Town Homes and will dedicate a plaque to Jerome’s Furniture. Representatives from Jerome’s Furniture, CBS Los Angeles, CBS EcoMedia, and Mercy Housing will be in attendance to help bring some extra holiday cheer to the families with arts & crafts activities, food, and beverages.
“By teaming up with Jerome’s Furniture, Mercy Housing will continue to enable those in need to build a better future by providing affordable homes and life-changing services,” said Doug Shoemaker, President, Mercy Housing California. “We extend our gratitude to Jerome’s for their very generous gift.”
“Affordable housing is the foundation upon which stable lives and thriving communities are built,” said Paul Polizzotto, President and Founder of CBS EcoMedia. “It’s an honor to support Mercy Housing’s work to fill this critical need for families, seniors, and those with special needs, and we are grateful to Jerome’s Furniture for their generous collaboration on this effort.”
