Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Ruth Roberti

Ruth Roberti has been a pillar of the Francis of Assisi Community in San Francisco for almost a decade. She first became a familiar face in the intimate and closely knit senior community in 2005 when she became a live-in caretaker for her mother, Victoria. She is well-known for her vibrant enthusiasm and compassion. Active socially as president of the property’s Resident Council, she rallies residents and uplifts spirits as she organizes birthday parties and breakfast socials. Her leadership encourages others to get involved, volunteer, take pride in their home, and find meaning in their role as part of the community.

Ruth volunteers with the property staff and is quick to lend a helping hand to whoever may need it. She leads the annual rummage sale and works to ensure the Resident Council is fiscally situated to continue to offer support to the community. As she makes her rounds checking in on residents, she is sure to bring a smile to people’s faces—a true example of the warmth and love at Francis of Assisi.

Mercy Housing volunteers like Ruth do important work statewide and make our work possible. To get involved in everything from food banks to afterschool programs, contact Punam Patel at ppatel@mercyhousing.org.
