Interstate Restoration charity event raises $21,000 for Mercy Housing residents

Last week, Interstate Restoration’s 9th annual charity golf tournament yielded $21,000 to benefit Mercy Housing, namely residents that were displaced from a fire that broke out at Mercy Housing’s Franconia Apartments in May.

“Interstate’s donation comes at a crucial time, as we are trying to support our residents during their temporary displacement until they are able to return home.” said Vice President of Resident Services, Carol Breslau. “This money will positively assist in the rebuilding of Franconia Apartments.”

Franconia Apartments, located in Capitol Hill at 9th and Downing, serves low-income residents who are elderly and/or disabled. This property consists of 54 one-bedroom and studio apartments. Several units were damaged by the fire and the organization is working quickly to repair the extensive damage.

Since its inception, the annual golf classic has raised nearly $130,000 for charitable causes.

“The Interstate Team is honored that we can make a difference in our community, a place we work and raise our families,” said Chuck Borden, executive vice president, of Interstate. “Sometimes life hits us with the unexpected. As an emergency response restoration firm, we see what a disaster can do to businesses and families. It may be our job to return their property back to full operation, but at the end of the day, we are human beings who want to help people when they need it most. We are thankful our clients and vendors have big hearts and want to share in our vision to give back to the community.”

More than 130 golfers participated in the 2013 charity tournament with 27 companies providing sponsorships to raise funds for the event held June 7th at Saddle Rock Golf Course in Aurora, Colorado.  Corporate sponsors contributing $11,000 were Affiliated Environmental Services NJ Inc, Aramsco, Interstate and Stanley Steemer; Platinum sponsors contributing $3,000 were CRDN and Lockton; Gold sponsors contributing $2,400 were Centimark and MBH Enterprises.
