When organizations work together, the lives of people in our communities are changed forever. And, when lives change, we all have the ability to thrive. United Way affiliates in Washington State have long been investing in proven programs that help residents participate and flourish in their neighborhoods and communities.

With more than $265,000 in grants from four separate United Ways, Mercy Housing Northwest (MHNW) has been able to continue its goal to provide permanent affordable housing for those most in need. In 2011 and 2012, United Way of Pierce County provided funding to support economic development programming. The grants enabled MHNW to expand its job-readiness and employment services and to offer one-on-one employment coaching to residents at its Pierce County properties.
