Mercy Housing Colorado is looking for volunteers to help install a new playground on June 24 at Decatur Place Apartments in Denver.

Volunteers can work all or part of the day, installing slides, swings and other structures for the more than 200 children who call the affordable housing property in West Denver home. Decatur Place is for formerly homeless families who commit to a two-year transitional program that requires adults to be in school or working. They must also regularly take part in resident services, such as financial education and parenting skills classes.

The playground is part of a Metro Denver-wide effort by Mercy Housing Colorado to update the playgrounds at each of their older family properties. Last fall, volunteers from The Home Depot, Equity Residential and other organizations built a playground with KaBOOM! for children at Holly Park Apartments in Commerce City. Plans also are underway for a new playground at Grace Apartments in East Denver.
